“Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written,
Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord.” Romans 12:19
As God’s children we will find ourselves in situations where some who aren’t God’s
children and unfortunately, some who are professed God’s children will try to tear us
down. Our human nature leads us to feel hurt, sad and even angry at times. We will
wonder, “why is this person or persons trying to hurt us, take us down or just plain not
support us?” We may dwell on it and sometimes go as far as challenge the situation but
Christ says to leave it alone, let Him handle it for us.
As Disciples of Christ, followers of the Savior, children of the most high, In the midst of
divine appointments and inspiration, we will be challenged. Some may try to dig out dirty
laundry; others will use their authority to ruin our program. All because of animosity
developed for one reason or another. Whatever the reason, animosity is not of God. We
must love one another and support one another. Leave the judging to Christ. Luke 6:37
But instead love those who we may they think are disloyal, inconsiderate and
unsupportive. Matt. 5:44,46
God knows about every ministry, program, organization and church. If any of it is not of
Him and is not GLORIFYING Him, it will end. But if it is of God, (Isa.8:20) the focus is
based on loving God and our fellow man (see Col.3:12-17) and therefore glorifies God,
then it will continue, grow and flourish. No man can hurt it. No animosity can control it
or tear it down. Man can only do so much. God is in control. There is no need to neither explain ourselves, defend ourselves, nor avenge ourselves for it is written, vengeance is mine. The Lord will take care of every situation if we sincerely love Him and others.
Praise God for gifts. Praise God for the great commission. Let us all go forward in Jesus
name lovingly finishing the work so Jesus can come and take us home.
Blessings to all. R. Denise Johnson
